This was not the day they had originally planned. Marie and Luke were supposed to be married in April of 2020 in Indianapolis, but due to the global pandemic they were forced to reschedule. They found a church willing to marry them in Fort Wayne, Indiana in mid-May, and postponed their reception and celebration with their guests to September. While so many of their plans had to change, one thing that was unwavering was their love for each other and their joy and excitement to get married – no matter where or when that would take place. I’ve been blown away by their graciousness and kindness through a time that was surely stressful and disappointing for them. They were constantly thinking of others, choosing to make the best out of a difficult situation and brought so much joy into their wedding day that overflowed to every one who was there to witness their vows.
Their parents, best man, maid of honor and a few vendors traveled to Fort Wayne to celebrate with them. Marie got ready with her mom and sister and Luke with his dad and best man. The ceremony was held in front of six people in a beautiful cathedral that was overflowing with love for this sweet couple. The morning was relaxed and filled with laughter, the ceremony intimate and emotional – there was not a dry eye in the church as Luke watched his bride walk towards him down the aisle. It was honestly one of the most incredible and emotional wedding days I’ve ever been a part of, largely because Marie and Luke turned something difficult into something beautiful. It was a true testament to their love for each other that has already weathered a storm that no one could have predicted, and came out of the other side stronger and deeper because of it.
Marie and Luke – I could write for hours on how much I adore you two. I am truly blessed to know you and call you friends. It was such an honor and privilege to be one of the people to witness your vows to each other and celebrate the start of your life together. You two are something special, and this crazy time in history has only put that on display. I’m so glad you’ve found each other and I know the world is a better place because of your love. Cannot wait to celebrate with you again in September 🙂
