Los Angeles California Destination Engagement Photography

Engagement

H & J flew me out to their home in Los Angeles for a whirlwind weekend of capturing their love for their upcoming wedding in June. I was thrilled to be able to photograph them in places that are so meaningful to their story and will forever capture a season of their life that has been so special to them. This is one of my favorite things about destination shoots – being able to authentically capture a couple doing life together and sharing their story through my lens, and my time with these two was no exception.

We began our session on the first day a few hours before sunset as we drove out to Griffith Observatory. This spot is a favorite for my couple, as they spent many hours there hiking and walking and spending time together in the midst of the global pandemic. It became a place close to their hearts as they were able to be outside in nature, enjoying time together in spite of everything that was going on in the world. It’s a breathtaking setting, especially as the sun is setting over the city. I felt like we were on top of the world!

The next morning we met at sunrise and drove to one of H&J’s favorite beaches. They are active and love to be outside, and another favorite activity of theirs is to meet at the beach at the end of a long work week to walk or run and connect with one another at the close of their day. We opted for casual outfits so that they could run, play and laugh together as we walked alongside the ocean. I loved this part of the shoot and getting to see so much of their personalities and to capture the deep joy that they share and how much fun they have together!

We ended our shoot by driving out to the gorgeous Wayfarers Chapel. It’s nestled in a grove of towering redwood trees, which we were able to shoot under as the fog from the ocean rolled through their branches. We looked over the Pacific Ocean and strolled through the rose garden before heading back into the city for a late brunch together before I flew home.

It was a truly unforgettable time together and I loved every minute spent with these two! Together they are a generous, thoughtful and fun couple, and I felt like I had known them forever by the time our shoots were finished. What a gift to be able to know them and call them friends – I cannot wait to celebrate with them in just a few months! H & J – thank you again for your hospitality in showing me your city and in our time spent together. I love you both and count it a true privilege to document these moments for you!
