It was such a joy to spend the afternoon exploring Charleston with Rachael and Michael for their engagement session. These two flew me in to capture this special season of their lives in a city that means so much to them. Charleston holds a special place in Rachael’s heart—her family spent summers here growing up—and it’s also where the two of them returned to celebrate their destination wedding.
We began our time together in the heart of downtown, wandering through the bustle of Queen Street before slipping into the quiet charm of Charleston’s cobblestone side streets. The low country light was absolutely magical that evening, peeking between historic homes and casting the softest golden glow as we explored.
From there we made our way down to the Battery, strolling beneath the sweeping oak trees and soaking in the coastal breeze before heading to Isle of Palms to end the evening by the water. Just in time for sunset, the sky turned the most beautiful shades of gold and pink as Rachael and Michael kicked off their shoes, splashed in the shoreline, and laughed together in that carefree way that makes photographing couples like them such a joy.
To celebrate, they opened a custom bottle of champagne gifted by friends and toasted to the future waiting ahead of them. It was the perfect ending to an evening that felt full of adventure, nostalgia, and so much love for the city that brought them here.
