If you have the opportunity to travel to New Orleans in the fall, take it!! I absolutely loved our time touring this city – we saw several plantations, and spent days in the French Quarter as well as the Garden District. We started our trip at Destrehan Plantation. It’s the oldest documented plantation home in the Mississippi Valley, and we were able to tour and learn more about its history for a quick day trip.
