I don’t even know where to begin as I think back on how amazing Emily and Austin’s wedding was at the breathtaking Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston. These two had seen my work at Magnolia and decided to fly me to their destination wedding for their intimate ceremony. Over our consult we connected over our love of fluffy fur babies, adventurous travel and blush color palettes 🙂 I was counting down the days until we were all together to celebrate!
Before their engagement session in downtown historic Charleston, we met for drinks at a rooftop lounge and I instantly fell in love with Emily’s style and joy and the sweet way Austin adores his bride and cares for her. We had so much fun strolling the streets, soaking in the golden light and anticipating their wedding day – I barely slept that night because I couldn’t wait to capture it all!
In true Emily form, the day was flawless from start to finish. A bespoke suite of paperie featuring a watercolor envelope inlay of historic Charleston greeted us, along with personalized vow books and hand tied ribbon to compliment Emily’s exquisite engagement ring. Her soft color palette of blush, neutrals and soft lilac were carried throughout the day in her sister’s bridesmaids dresses, the bouquets and the floral arrangements by Bliss in Bloom for the reception. Emily’s dress was probably my favorite detail – her detailed long sleeves accented by floral appliqués, layers of lace and tulle that flowed to the floor and coordinated with her custom veil that was adorned with the same floral appliqués of her gown. She looked like royalty and was a dream to shoot.
Charleston showed off for us, giving Emily and Austin a beautiful 75 degree day free of humidity and bursting with sunshine from start to finish. We had several hours to take portraits around the grounds – from the white bridge hidden amongst the spanish moss covered trees, to the vintage car they rented from Low Country Valet and the shimmering oaks that served as a perfect backdrop for their just married portraits, everything was picture perfect.
Emily and Austin – I can’t overstate how much I loved this special weekend with you both. Thank you for trusting me, for sharing your joy and inviting us into every part of your destination celebration. It is because of people like you – warm, open hearted and joyful couples – that I do what I do, and to see your excitement only fuels mine and reminds me of what a gift it is to be the one to capture these moments. I am genuinely so thankful for you both and that our paths have crossed – your weekend was an absolute dream come true and one that I will relive over and over.
