The last leg of our travels took us to Rome, Italy. We stayed in the heart of the city so that we would have easy access to everything we hoped to see. On our first day we chose to do an 8 hour walking tour (in hindsight, not the best decision in the heat!) but we saw every single historical sight we wanted to, without having to wait in any lines, which was amazing! We toured the Colosseum, ancient ruins, The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and St. Peter’s Basilica (with many a gelato stop along the way!) On our last day we decided to go at a more leisurely pace, visiting the small town of Trastavere where we enjoyed a picnic, touring Villa Borghese and when we returned to Rome we stopped in for high tea at the St. Regis (which was one of my favorite memories of the whole trip!)
